7 to 100+ years of age

Only persons who are reasonably healthy can be included in the GNI global normative sample. A “reasonably healthy” person may not have any medical condition that impairs memory or other mental abilities. Reasonably mentally healthy persons cannot have any of the following:

• Developmental intellectual disorder, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, learning disorder, or any other developmental disorder that impairs cognitive functioning
• Acquired brain injury, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury with loss of consciousness lasting more than 30 minutes
• Such neurological disorders as dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis
• Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, or other severe psychiatric illness
• Alcohol or drug dependence

Reasonably healthy persons may have minor health conditions that do not impair cognitive function, such as arthritis, obesity, asthma, controlled hypertension, mild depression or anxiety, asymptomatic HIV infection, asymptomatic cancer, and equally minor other health problems.

The core GNA takes 14 to 18 minutes to administer and score for most people. Administering the optional Spatial Span subtest adds five minutes.
